MEINONG Unveils China’s First Precision Wine-Grape Picking Robot at Changyu Baron Balboa

MEINONG ROBOT has released a wine-grape harvesting robot now operating at the Chateau Changyu Baron Balboa vineyard in Xinjiang. Built for single-slope trellis rows, it offers damage-free picking comparable to hand harvest, 24/7 operation, and helps lock in flavour for winemaking.

MEINONG ROBOT CO., LIMITED has officially released a wine-grape picking robot, now in use at the vineyard of Chateau Changyu Baron Balboa (张裕巴保男爵酒庄) in Xinjiang. The machine is positioned as China’s first precision wine-grape harvesting robot.

On-site video shows the robot travelling between rows and completing cluster recognition and gentle picking on the working face of a single-slope (one-sided) trellis, with clusters transferred by conveyor into harvest crates. The château is located in Shihezi, Xinjiang; its planting base uses this one-sided slope trellis, concentrating fruit on one face of the row so the robot’s aisle travel and lateral picking path can match the canopy.

Wine grapes demand intact clusters and tight control of berry damage. The robot targets damage-free picking with work quality comparable to hand harvest, reducing juice loss and oxidation from mechanical injury so more of the grape’s flavour can be locked in for wine quality.

To ease harvest-season labour shortages, the robot can work around the clock, covering day and night windows, keeping the picking cadence and supporting timely delivery to the tank. MEINONG ROBOT will keep iterating picking capability around real vineyard trellis systems and winemaking process windows, bringing demonstrable, deployable engineering to more wineries and planting bases.
